A fragment of the introduction to the Dictionary.

“We have started in the field of translation over thirty years ago by rendering an American avicultural magazine into Spanish. We could not have imagined at that time that today we will continue to get surprised at finding some new term or meaning which we haven´t heard of so far.

This is the reason that lies behind the creation of this dictionary. Although we believe to have included all British and American terms related to aviculture we realize that there may be some new terms which do not appear in the dictionary.

Moreover, it is difficult to separate technical avicultural terminology from the general one. It was generally agreed that the word “egg” should be included in the dictionary; however, words such as “random”, which are not specialist terms, are used very frequently. It didn´t seem so obvious, therefore, whether it be included in the dictionary or not..."
